Dog Parks

Summer is a wonderful season to enjoy some quality time with your four-legged friend outdoors, and there are a variety of great dog parks around Central Texas for you to visit this summer. In addition to having amenities for the pups in your life, many local dog parks are also located within larger parks that feature fun, family-friendly summer activities.   • HOT Dog Park – 4900 Steinbeck Bend Dr., Waco, TX 76708
    While the popular HOT Dog Park is now privately owned, it's still free to use, open to the public, and open every day from dawn to dusk. With 5.5 acres of hills, valleys, trees, and fields, there's ample space for dogs of all sizes to enjoy their time here. This park's popularity means that it's typically well-maintained, with plenty of dogs present for play and socialization. Do note that for this park and all of the others on our list, dogs who visit are required to be licensed and vaccinated.

  • Central Texas Bark Park – 4320 Lions Park Dr., Temple, TX 76502
    Lions Park is a hub of activity during the summer, with hiking trails, disc golf, athletic facilities, BBQ grills, and of course the Central Texas Bark Park attracting visitors from around the region. There are two gated sections for dogs, one for small dogs and one for pups over 25 pounds. This park is also home to the Rotary Club of Temple South Accessible Playground, which was designed to be accessible and inclusive for all children.

  • Purser Family Park – 100 Mountain Lion Rd., Harker Heights, TX 76548
    Purser Family Park
    is another great park for a family day out that includes your four-legged friend. Your kids can enjoy the large playground here, and your dog can spend time running around the large, fenced-off-leash play area. This park also features a one-mile nature trail, perfect for longer walks.

  • Mickey's Dog Park – 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd., Killeen, TX 76543
    Located next to the Killeen Community Center, Mickey's Dog Park is the first dog park in Killeen and has multiple play areas for dogs of all sizes. It's got a variety of toys and play structures, in addition to plenty of space for running.

  • Monarch Dog Park – 100 Gold Star Ave., Nolanville, TX 76559
    Looking for a location the whole family will love? Monarch Dog Park is located within the larger Monarch Park, which features splash pads, scent gardens, pavilions, trails, a multi-use field, and a basketball/volleyball court. The dog park is open to dogs of all sizes, and well-behaved dogs are welcome to play off-leash. This park is also a popular destination for special events throughout the summer.

  • Jeannette's Private Dog Park – Berkshire Dr., Waco, TX 76705
    In addition to dog parks on public land, private dog parks have become more popular in recent years. Jeannette's Private Dog Park is one such park in Waco, where you can pay a small fee for your pups to play in a scenic, private yard with plenty of space to stretch their legs. You'll need to book your visit online, with the full address and any other needed information provided after booking.
