Painting Projects

Summer is a great time to paint for a few reasons. Warm, dry weather can help paint dry faster. It also gives you the opportunity to open your windows and eliminate fumes while improving air circulation throughout the home. As a result, many homeowners save painting projects for the warm summer months. Longer days also help! If you'd like to get some painting done, it's not too late. Painting is an excellent way to revamp your home, so our real estate agents pulled together a quick list of projects that you can tackle over the next few weeks.

  • Paint Your Front Door
Never underestimate the impact of a freshly painted front door. It can have a tremendous impact on your curb appeal, which is one of the most important factors when it comes time to sell your home. Just check out the front doors on these Waco homes for sale. If you have a bright facade, choose a bold red, green, or blue to create a nice contrast. Keep in mind how weather and the elements affect paint, and that if you're painting in Texas, you're more likely to see incredibly fast drying times during these warmer months. This may affect if strokes are visible. The material of your door will also be subject to changes due to weather, if you're painting on a metal door, make sure that the sunlight is not (or has not been) hitting it directly as you begin to paint in order to avoid injuries!
  • Add Some Color To Your Dining Room Ceiling
If you have a plain white dining room, painting the room's ceiling a nice bright color can be a subtle but effective way to really help make the room stand out. A light blue can add a calming vibe, while a nice green can add a touch of nature. This approach is even more effective if there is decorative molding that separates the ceiling from the walls. Before painting your ceiling, make sure to prepare the room appropriately; remove furniture, or cover with a dropcloth or tarp. Make sure to also cover up the floor in case of any drips. Scrub your ceiling free of dust or grime and when painting be careful with those edges!
  • Create An Accent Wall
To create an accent wall, simply pick a wall in a room and paint it a different color. It's a simple and effective way to transform the vibe of any room and add a touch of creativity. You can use any color to make an accent wall, so choose one that matches your personality or the intended look and feel of the room. An accent wall doesn't have to be a simple color, it can even be a design or mural. Make sure that you keep in mind what furniture and decor is in the room when picking colors for the accent wall.
  • Update Some Old Furniture
If you have some vintage furniture around the house, adding a fresh coat of paint can help breathe new life into the piece. It can also help introduce some color and personality to any room. Paint an old bookcase or bedside table. You can even use fun colors for a bit of creativity.

  • Touch Up Your Cabinets And Backsplash
If you're tired of the same old look in your kitchen, choose a new color scheme and repaint your cabinets and backsplash. Just make sure to pick complementary tones. This is an easy way to make a big difference, and the entire project can be accomplished in just a few hours. Take a look at current trends, and also, since you'll most likely be removing the hardware to paint, maybe it's time for a hardware update as well?!
  • Refresh Your Mantle
If the paint on your fireplace mantle is chipped or faded, give it a refresh. Your mantle is a great opportunity to add contrast to your living room, so try a darker mantle against a lighter-tone wall or vice versa. We've seen a few dark grey and black ones in Central Texas homes for sale that we've absolutely fallen in love with.

There are so many ways paint can enhance your interior, and luckily, there is still plenty of time left this summer to knock some of these off your list. These can easily be done in 1 or 2 days and will make a fun project right before settling into fall vibes.
